Auditing Certification Exam: CHCA exam will be scheduled with registered attendees. CPMA exams must be scheduled 4 weeks in advance by the student with AAPC.

Join us for the virtual intensive chart auditing practicum, "Auditing for Professional Services!" program. 

Auditing is an essential component to ensure accurate medical record and documentation compliance. Gain knowledge and learn with hands on experience from recognized auditors and educators, and compliance professionals. Attendees will receive auditing tools and resources necessary for providing critical elements needed for accurate medical record auditing!

This course was designed for coders, auditors, compliance, clinical and non-clinical professionals who desire to learn about the the medical health care auditing arena. Those desiring to sit for any certification exam, should have coding knowledge and auditing education/experience. We are excited that this program will assist attendees who want to know how to audit and for those who desire to move forward by taking a national auditing certification exam (ie, CHCA, CPMA).

Program Goal: The student will learn principles of medical record auditing. Key regulatory documents and guidelines will be taught necessary for definsible auditing results. Compliance and OIG audit focus, CIAs, RATSTATS, integrity based medical record documentation and chart abstraction skills will be reviewed. This course is also beneficial anyone who is preparing for a career in CDI, medical auditing and strongly recommended for anyone who is preparing for auditing certification. Inpatient and outpatient cases will be included in the hands-on audit examples.

Objectives: This workshop is focused for attendees who want to learn / enhance medical record auditing skills for professional services. Medical auditing types and scopes will be reviewed. Learning key laws and regulations for preventing fraud and abuse, and ethical auditing are key. Evaluation and management services for the 2023 changes for EM services will be abstracted with practical application. The OIG Work Plan and Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIAs), RAC and Cert reviews will be discussed, as well as the elements of effective compliance plans. Assess risk areas for various audit types. Identify common errors that are found in documentation and the remedy for documentation compliance support. Communication and reporting to the provider to discuss audit findings will be taught. Teaching physician rules, signatures, cloning/cut and paste, addendums, attestations and other essential areas are an important audit focus for validation. Practical application through various case examples will be provided and is key to understanding!

 *Added Value:  AHCAE 2-year Membership and the proctored certification exam CHCA (Certified Healthcare Chart Auditor), is included for those attending the program (with unlimited attempts should a retake be required), that wish to register and sit for their auditing certification exam. The CPMA examination fee is the attendees responsibility unless arrangements have been made in advance (contact our office).
